Bed wetting is a very common problem which almost forty per cent children have to face. It happens when your child unknowingly wets his bed at night. Parents start punishing their children and the children in return start to feel embarrassed. But that is not the way it should go. If your child is not able to feel the urge or sensation to pass urine then it is not normal obviously but there is nothing to sulk about and punish your baby. Your child too feels embarrassed on discovering his bed wet early in the morning and finding all the family members grumbling. Why do not parents understand that if the child does not get the feeling of the time for passing the urine, then it is not his fault? It is just a part of the developmental process. Maybe a little late for your child but there is no need to create an issue.

When a child wets his bed unknowingly then it is you who has to wash the sheets and re-dress him. So you feel that it is just you who is humiliated and disturbed. What about the child who is going through this and he feels uneasy and feels pain when finding all the family members in trouble because of him?

If your doctor is not able to come to a specific cause for the problem then parents should check their behavior. The mental capability of the child is what needs to be looked upon. It might be a case of severe maladjustment in your child. Some children do not want to take responsibility of eating their meals on time or dressing up themselves. This might be the reason for their not going to the toilet by themselves. Older children sometimes get jealous of the new ones arrived in the family. This is because of the attention diverted towards the new born. This brings the child into a new environment and he feels neglected. Here, the parents should take their child to a counselor who could make him feel comfortable by explaining issues. As a result the older child does all what he can do to grab his lost attention.

Bed wetting is a common phenomenon seen in any kind of children. It does not matter if a child is weak, strong, calm or aggressive. In this regard, the reason is feeble emotional foundation. The reason behind this might be an uncomfortable living environment or one of the parents is not able to be present with the child physically or expressively compelling the child to feel insecure. Medicines cannot take place of the emotional support which the parents can provide. Their attitude is what needs to be changed. Try making your child comfortable and get him to help you when the bed gets wet. Of course, you would never like your child to be exposed to medicaments at such an early age. Give him emotional support. Persuade him to visit the toilet for a last time before going to bed. Make him feel that it is normal. And the most important, never disturb his sleep to take him to the toilet.
